Paragraph 11.6.3 in Chapter 11 of the Code of Practice for Residential Care Homes (Persons with Disabilities)

RCHDs shall strictly follow the prescriptions and the related instructions of medical practitioners to assist residents in using drugs. Any person shall not arbitrarily cease or change the dosages or routes of using drugs without authorisation. Medical advice should be sought if there is doubt.

An RCHD should have contingency arrangements in place at all times for emergencies or accidents, and training and supervision of the competencies of staff in handling emergencies so that residents may receive proper care in case of emergencies.
